Hanno Pevkur studied Law at Tallinn School of Economics and at the University of Tartu. Following his studies he worked as a Legal Adviser in Järva-Jaani Municipality Government and as a legal consultant in Koeru Municipality Government and Kareda Municipality Government until he joined the Law Office Aleksis as a lawyer. Later he served as an Administrative Secretary and District Elder in Tallinn Nõmme District Administration. As Deputy Mayor of Tallinn, Mr. Pevkur was in charge of Education, Culture and Sports.
Hanno Pevkur entered the Ministry of Justice as an adviser to the Minister in 2005. He was appointed Minister of Social Affairs in 2009, Minister of Justice in 2012 and Minister of Interior in 2014. He has been a member of Estonian Parliament since November 2016 and in 2017 he was appointed Vice-President of the Parliament. Currently, he is a Chairman of the Estonian Reform Party, which he has been a part of since 2000.
